In School Suspension - Manifestation Determination Hearing?

Question

Posted

Hi! My son had a behavior incident on Monday that resulted in a “in school” suspension on Tuesday. Question is - do we need to have a manifestation determination hearing for the in school suspension or are these hearings just for out of school suspensions?  I’m thinking we do need to have one, but would like someone to just check my thoughts and let me know I am right.

I'm not sure, but I think Manifestation Determination meetings are held when the thought is to suspend a child for 10 days, or 10 days of suspensions have added up.

You can absolutely ask for a Manifestation Determination hearing after any suspension and there's many benefits to doing so. However, the school will likely try to put you off until the child has a number of suspensions. Here are some great resources that can better answer your questions. https://adayinourshoes.com/manifestation-determination-hearing/
