Backroads Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 Setting Choice A is not working. It's a little off the traditional, so the regular public school system is being looked at, questions asked, etc. This also means child hasn't been attending any sort of school for a few weeks. Getting the right placement is so important, but when would truancy possibly set in? Quote
Angela Tyszka Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 Truancy would likely be set by state and/or district laws or policies. In some states you can also homeschool relatively easily, which may be an acceptable alternative while you find placement. If your child has an IEP, the entire team will typically need to be involved in a placement decision. Quote Michigan mother of two with IEPs, and owner of MI Student Advocacy Services. Jen T Posted November 13, 2022 Posted November 13, 2022 Are you working with the current school or public on alternative placements? Wonder if one of the schools could provide school work for child while waiting for placement? If child has IEP can they be placed on homebound so they either get services a certain number hours a week to meet with a teacher either virtual or in person. Or could have consult where you check in with teacher once a week if child is struggling with work. If homebound through school not available could you pull child to home school till you find best placement? This would prevent issues with truancy. Quote
