  1. Ok yes I meant the school sorry .. what should I do? To me it seems like pre determination but it’s hard to prove.
  2. Si i had an IEP meeting today to add ESY services aswell as accommodations.. when I walked in there were some people there who weren’t even listed on the IEP invite special Ed director school psychologist… well like I said was there for ESY and then I started to talk about changing my son from a cdc class to a regular sped class and moving him to the zoned school which I know if he doesn’t qualify for that service they can do that but my question is shouldn’t they send me a notice or something ? I’m pretty upset that they just got me off guard when I became upset she simply said well it’s up to the principal anyways … I’m just very shocked that they did this without giving me a heads up.
  3. What could I bring as data to support this?
  4. Quiet didn’t say anything didn’t even put on his IEP he needs someone that really got to me and I felt overwhelmed I understand they don’t have to answer but how do I deal with a situation like this in the future where everyone is quiet and not saying anything thanks in advance
  5. Hi everyone so I have an autistic child who is 8 and we have our IEP coming up in about a month and I have been thinking of ways to advocate for him and speak up as that is always hard for me. At one of our last IEP meetings I spoke up because their was an incident where my child’s teacher in the general setting did not know he needed someone to walk with him to being checked out as it’s not on the IEP which I understand she didn’t know but he was standing outside the door for almost 20 minutes before a teacher found him his not able to fully communicate so he could not say he was being checked out. This only happened once I called a meeting and when I said this they were all
  6. Ok thank you all for your answers and just a quick question if they don’t put my parental concerns on their should I file a complaint and not sign his IEP do I go on with the meeting or ask for it be rescheduled and ask for a PWN for them denying my parental concerns .
  7. I was hoping for some advice last IEP meeting I wanted my parental concerns on my sons IEP and I was told “at this time we are only putting down concerns if it’s happening frequently” at the time it wasn’t so I shrugged it off though my gut told me to fight back on that I’m not the type of person to do well with confrontation specially going in by myself with 10+ people.. IEP meeting is right around the corner and I want my concerns on their what can I say and do if they push back on it and what could be a reason they would push back on writing down my parental concerns any advice is appreciated
  8. And his teachers in the gen Ed have said to me that he will listen and do his work if he has someone next to him otherwise his just sitting there.. and he does good in his sped class because it is smaller 11 kids including him with aids prompting him and keeping him in track , his sped teacher said when his in the general setting he gets overwhelmed and tunes everyone out due to being a larger class I believe the least restrictive environment is what he needs but all of this troubles me and as far as them writing it down into his IEP no they have not not even my parental concerns it’s something that really frustrates me .

    1:1 Aide

Hello i live in Tennessee and have an autistic child who is 8 years old we have an IEP coming up and I really want and believe he needs an aid he is in the general setting classroom part time and special Ed setting whenever he is in the general setting his teachers have stated he does not listen nor pay attention and due his work unless they have the chance to sit beside him I have stated this before in our last IEP and no one really said anything it was shrugged off I didn’t push I felt let’s see what happens but I feel they are going to tell me no due to staff shortages they are having which I understand or they will make me feel like his getting more services than any other child but the only solution can’t be for him to go back in his special Ed setting the whole day ? What Can or should I do and say thank you in advance
