IEP meeting notice does not include special educator

Agnes

Question

Hi there,

I received IEP meeting notices for my twin girls who will go to Kindergarten in the fall. They currently have IFSPs- in our state there is not IEP until kindergarten. I noticed that for one of the girls just the Kindergarten teacher and a SLP was invited- no special educator. That seems incomplete, right? There should be a special educator right? Before I complain I would like to double check.

Thanks

Agnes

With a speech only IEP, only an SLP and LEA is needed for an IEP meeting.  If this is the case where one of your children only qualifies for speech then a sp ed teacher isn't needed.  The SLP is the case manager & will write the IEP.

She does not have a speech only IEP. Her eligibility is under Autism, she mainly receives OT services under ECSE with speech only once a month. I reached out to the SLP who also functions as the case manager and let her know. She will invite OT and a learning specialist.
